SAIL Messenger

Our monthly newsletter, the SAIL Messenger, is your source for everything coming up at SAIL, and has great information on activities in other parts of the community that may be of interest to you. SAIL Messenger also includes advice and ideas from our members, event photos, informational tidbits, and a full calendar to put on your fridge!

March 28 AND April 24


Spring Cleaning and Shred Day



 
Date and Time: March 28 (Oakwood East-Prairie Ridge) from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and April 24 (Oakwood West-University Woods); Program from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  
 
Shred Days include an Access truck at each location to collect your documents to shred.  Up to five grocery bags or boxes are permitted. 

In addition to having the shredding truck available on April 24, we are collaborating with Triad and offering "Spring Cleaning," a program on downsizing and how to best dispose of items you no longer need. You'll learn some downsizing tips and local resources (including SAIL resources!) to help you with your spring cleaning."

Embracing Change: All Of It! 


Date and Time: April 30 from 10:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m.

Location: Oakwood Village University Woods, Westmorland Room, 6205 Mineral Point Road.

Have you ever wondered, "How should I handle those things that are ahead of me that I feel unprepared for?" or "How can I handle life's curveballs?" Dr. Kristin Litzelman, a Doctor of Population Health Sciences and UW-Extension Faculty Member, is here to help! 

This SAILing Into The Future workshop is a great first step if you're feeling unprepared for what lies ahead or you're looking to learn more about how to effectively plan for change.  Key points include: learning how people often respond to common life changes, describing your own idea of independence, and applying tools and strategies to thrive. A variety of activities will include a presentation, small group discussion, and self-assessments and readings.  

Past participants in this workshop called it "informative," "eye-opening," "hopeful," "stimulating," "thought-provoking," and "encouraging!"

Spring Luncheon and Annual Meeting

Date and Time: May 15.  Sign-in begins at 11:30 a.m.  Lunch at 12:00 p.m. with program to follow. 

Location: Blackhawk Country Club, 3606 Blackhawk Drive, Madison. 

Speaker: Betsy Abramson, Executive Director, Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging

Join us for a delicious lunch, social time with SAIL members, and an informative talk on ageism from one of Wisconsin's leading experts on healthy aging.
