SAIL Celebrates 15 Years!
SAIL welcomed its first members fifteen years ago on March 1, 2005! To celebrate our 15th year and those who helped create and sustain this amazing membership program, it seems most fitting to highlight our members all year long.

SAIL Charter Member Videos

We are excited to share the thoughts and insights of some of our Charter Members—those who have been with us since the beginning. Each month, you can view a monthly video featuring one of these individuals on our website and Facebook page and discover firsthand how it all began, why SAIL was and still is important, and just how much SAIL has grown over the years.

This month's video features Jan Rom. Jan and her husband, Howie, were in need of help around the house when they joined SAIL. Fifteen years later, no longer living in her own home, Jan continued to volunteer monthly in the office. Sadly, Jan died shortly after this video was filmed; therefore, this month, we remember Jan and the joy that she brought with her and the love that she had for her family.  Click here to view the video.

SAIL Selfie
Recognizing “it takes a village,” SAIL members help one another and support the community as a whole. Each month this year, we’ll be featuring randomly-chosen members and sharing the various ways they’ve contributed to SAIL and the community via a SAIL Selfie.

Harriet Irwin
Member since 2015

Harriet has been a longtime teacher and learner. While she spent many years teaching students within a classroom, she also led field trips and taught outdoor classes all over the state of Wisconsin. Harriet was in charge of Elderhostel (now Road Scholar) for over 10 years exploring northern Wisconsin near St. Germain. The group enjoyed field trips to a variety of places. And, Harriet spent 20 years with Trees for Tomorrow in Eagle River. She taught week-long classes for teachers including birding, wetlands (her favorite subject), and forests of the north country. Harriet continues to support environmental organizations and appreciates every opportunity to get outdoors. Read more about Harriet on our blog sailtodayblog.com.
